More Info About The International Medical Corps' "First Responders"

Back in August we first posted about Rob's involvement with The International Medical Corps as a "First Responder".

Earlier this week Sienna Miller, Global Ambassador of the organization, attended the International Medical Corps' cocktail reception during the Clinton Global Initiative to officially announce a "new “First Responders” commitment to assist communities in becoming their own first responders in emergencies and natural disasters."

From the IMC's press release:
September 24, 2013 - Los Angeles, Calif. – As part of its 2013 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Commitment to Action, International Medical Corps President & CEO Nancy A. Aossey and Global Ambassador Sienna Miller will announce a new “First Responders” commitment to assist communities in becoming their own first responders in emergencies and natural disasters. Over the next two years, International Medical Corps will commit to scaling up its successful “health care through training” model, to prepare families and health workers in Africa to better cope with recurring emergencies such as drought, food insecurity or seasonal flooding.

As part of the First Responders commitment, Miller has brought together actors and public figures who have agreed to use their public platforms to raise awareness about the need to strengthen communities before disaster strikes. Current celebrity First Responders include: Global Ambassador Sienna Miller, along with Jamie Bell, Cary Elwes, Ben Foster, Chelsea Handler, Ben Harper, Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Kate Mara, Jaclyn Matfus, Robert Pattinson, Eddie Redmayne, Tom Sturridge, Mario Testino, Anna Wintour, and Robin Wright.

Miller also talked to Al Jazeera America about getting together the "First Responder" group and more about the organization. Click on the screencap to watch

This is a very eclectic group of global first responder ambassadors. I hope they all can help and promote the cause. They are all very successful in their fields of art and entertainment. I can see the connection of Robin Wright and Kate Mara because they were in Netflix's House of Cards, I can see many Brits in this organization helping to represent. I hope they can raise awarness and money for their cause.
