Jeff Rawle talks about playing Cedric's dad in Harry Potter and working with Rob

In the Harry Potter films, you played Amos Diggory, dad to Robert Pattinson's character, Cedric. Did you enjoy that?
Well, that was a casting problem for the films, you see. They had to find someone as good-looking as Robert to play his father, so they said, "Let's get Jeff Rawle"" Robert seemed happy enough to go along with it - he's such a sweet boy and has gone on to have fantastic success. We spent a lot of time together on set, and had great fun.

ET: Robert Pattinson Then and Now

Thanks to YolycoPro for the HD video :)

Flashback of Rob's first interview with ET (2005)

ETA: Added Youtube

Before Robert Pattinson was romancing Reese Witherspoon in 'Water for Elephants' or the mysterious Edward Cullen in 'Twilight,' he played a pivotal role in two 'Harry Potter' movies.

Robert played Quiddich captain and Triwizard Tournament contender Cedric Diggory in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' and 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,' the latter in which he comes to an untimely end at the hands of Voldemort. When asked by ET in 2005 about his thoughts of becoming a teen idol, he laughed, "I think about it all the time! No, I don't -- it's impossible to think what it's going to be like, because I've never been hugely popular or anything in my life, so it's going to be weird. I hope I get a bit of an ego afterwards!"

Universal Orlando plans to represent Cedric Diggory on it's Harry Potter Dragon Challenge attraction

Faithfulness to the film series trumped thoroughness in the case of the Dragon Challenge attraction. Many fans, including one audience member on this night, have noted that there are no banners or signs posted in the attraction’s queue in support of popular character Cedric Diggory (played in Goblet of Fire by a pre-Twilight Robert Pattinson). Paul Daurio fielded this question himself, “I want to personally apologize for not representing for Cedric and the Hufflepuff house.” Big applause erupted from the crowd. He continued, “We literally took the exact film reference as our reference for the movie. Every single handmade banner you walk past on your path through the Forbidden Forest into the Dragon Challenge is from the scene in Harry Potter and [...] the Goblet of Fire.” But in the end, Daurio admitted change is on the way, saying, “We plan to represent Cedric.” Even bigger applause.

Rob Pursued for a Record Deal by Simon Cowell?

Rumor has it, Robert Pattinson has been approached by "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell to ink a major record deal. It is also reported that Simon is not the only person who is interested to sign the "Twilight" actor as there are other recording companies which pursue him.

A bidding war reportedly has taken place with the Edward Cullen depicter being reluctant to seal a deal with Simon. "He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with 'The X Factor' and pop," a source said as quoted by The Sun.

Singing is not something new for Robert Pattinson as he has contributed two songs in the first installment of "Twilight" movie series. Earlier in March 2009, he revealed his desire to release an indie album, saying he is not afraid if the record fails because he "got nothing to lose."
