Rob's Cannes Makeover

We usually don't post articles like this, but The Wrap just published a really great one about Rob's "reinvention".

After the last couple of days at Cannes, it's easy to see why Robert Pattinson is on the cover of French Premiere with the headline “la metamorphose.”

The two movies that have brought Pattinson to the Croisette are weird, dark, supremely edgy and nothing like what we might expect from an actor who became famous as the vampire dude in the “Twilight” movies.

His reinvention (at least when he strays into the indie world) is indeed a metamorphosis. And Cannes has become an accessory to his intriguing makeover, which actually started a couple of years ago when he came to the festival with David Cronenberg's austere and arty “Cosmopolis.”

This year, he's back with Cronenberg's “Maps to the Stars” and David Michod's “The Rover” which premiered on back-to-back days at Cannes. Both are bloody, brutal and strange, and both are terrific.

And the remarkable thing is that “Maps to the Stars,” in which Pattinson plays a chauffeur driver and aspiring actor who ends up having sex with Julianne Moore in the back seat of his car before almost everybody in the whole movie self-destructs spectacularly, turns out to be only the runner-up in the competition to see which of Pattinson's Cannes movies is darker and edgier.

The dark ‘n’ edgy crown really goes to “The Rover,” a brutally brilliant and brilliantly brutal post-apocalyptic road movie that crawls along creepily before periodically erupting into violence. Nobody in this movie walks away clean – but then, nobody walks in clean, either.

New Video, Pictures and Details: Rob Visits Kids at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (Aug 16th)

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com
On Friday, Aug. 16, Robert Pattinson, actor and star of mega-hit movies “The Twilight Saga” and “Water for Elephants” dropped by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to spread cheer and visit with patients.

Teens from across the hospital—including the Acute Rehabilitation Center, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and The Heart Institute—gathered in the hospital’s Teen Lounge for a surprise guest. When Pattinson arrived, one young girl giggled and cried in awe. But the down-to-earth actor quickly settled the room and jumped into arts and crafts, decorating picture frames alongside patients. Pattinson laughed at his own creation—a pink frame with hearts sketched in—and tried unsuccessfully to convince the room of his “terrible” artistic skills.

The star graciously posed for endless photographs and signed every patient’s picture frame before heading off to visit two cystic fibrosis patients and huge Twilight fans who were unable to leave their rooms.

“We couldn’t help laughing and smiling when one of the patients was so starstruck she that couldn’t speak. You could tell it meant the world to her—she was tearing up and smiling ear to ear as we were leaving,” said Lyndsay Hutchison, senior public information officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “The other little girl teased him relentlessly and begged him to do an American accent. They were instant friends.”

“Robert was so nervous about meeting the kids—he didn’t want to let them down—which is a testament to how humble he is. He was incredibly gracious and kind. He will probably never fully understand what a huge lift he gave to these kids today, and how it will positively impact them over the long term,” shared Child Life specialist, Ana Vega.

Pattinson was able to visit the hospital because an upcoming movie, “Maps to the Stars,” which Pattinson is currently filming in Los Angeles will feature a short scene (not featuring Pattinson) in front of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Keep an eye out for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles when the film hits theaters!

New Dior Rob Picture and Article With Details About Rob's Dior Homme Ad

Dior shared a new picture of Rob's Dior Homme ad today! We can't wait for more. Click for HQ!

@Dior: A new story is about to start. Robert Pattinson for Dior Homme Parfum. #‎DiorRob

And an article from Femme Actualle.Fr by Virginie de Tarlé with new details about the ad.

Preview: Robert Pattinson, the face of the Dior Homme fragrance

Yesterday we had the pleasure to see in advance the new move add of the Dior Homme fragrance with its new face in action: Robert Pattinson.

Evidently, we don't have the video to show you, as Dior jealously guards those images of Rob.

Patince, you will have to wait until September 1st to discover the new movie add in its several formats for television and cinema (20 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds and 1 minute and 30 seconds). But in particular, it's the online movie that lasts 1 minute and 40 seconds (1 minute and 40 seconds of feast for the eyes) that will delight all Twilight fans. Even the non-fans, for that matter.

What we can tell you (alas, without showing you) is that in this ad, the British actor plays an exuberant, uninhibited, seductive and mysterious young man. In short, a role that suits Pattinson to a T and that he plays with class. He runs through the city, he dances. You can feel that the hero of the Twilight saga enjoyed shooting this movie by the talented Romain Gavras (Costa-Gavras's son), who already directed several short movies, video clips and tv ads for some fragrances.

What you need to know: the Dior Homme fragrance, a male woodsy and spicy scent that turns out to be elegant and sexy with its heart of amber and iris of Tuscany, seems to have found its perfect representation in Robert Pattinson.

To sum up, bring on September 1st!

Thanks to @rainbowclimber_ for the translation.

Sweet Story About How Rob Saved The Alligator From His Vanity Fair Photoshoot

Remember the alligator on the cover of Vanity Fair with Rob? Here is the story of how Rob helped free Hollywood.

“Just thought I would share the rest of the story with you all… Well, we all know this picture right? I was visiting Insta-gator in Louisiana last weekend with some fellow twilighters and happened to spot it on the wall. I raced over to it and, although the pic doesn’t show it clearly, the paper above the pic says that the alligator, appropriately named, Hollywood, lives at the ranch and that if you ask the tour guide, you can meet him!!!! I immediately went into stealth mode knocking people over trying to find the guide because anything that touched Rob, I MUST TOUCH! Anyway, finally found the guide, who we had nicknamed Marshmallow Man, because he fed the gators marshmallows and because he was hot, and he acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about, all braun, no brains, I guess. He told us to go ask the short, red-headed guy. So I did, and do you know what he told me? He said, “Hollywood’s not here anymore. Rob paid to have him released back into the wild. It’s the only time we’ve ever done that.” Needless to say, tears started to form, not because I didn’t get to meet the gator, but because our Rob is that sweet! I cried and love him even more if that’s possible! And that my friends, is the rest of the story.”

Here's the video of Hollywood getting released

New Fan Pictures and Details of Rob's Night Out in Adelaide - Jan 25th

Added another new fan picture - 1st one on the post - and article with details

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com

Article
The Hollywood star, and part-time muso, has been spotted all over town this week and was among the thousands watching The Killers, Vampire Weekend and the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the festival.

Wearing his trademark baseball cap, check shirt and dark jeans, the Twilight hunk happily posed for photos backstage with John Day and friends.

"He was very cool, very gracious and good humoured ... I asked him how he was enjoying Adelaide and he said he'd only been here a short time and hadn't seen much," John says.

Robert's new movie, The Rover, will be shot in various locations in SA's Flinders Ranges, but the actor admitted to not knowing much about the area.

"I asked him what he (Rob) thought of the Flinders Ranges and he wasn't sure what or where that was, so he had a bit of a laugh about that," John says.

Later in the evening, Robert kicked on to what is becoming his favourite Adelaide nightspot, the Grace Emily Hotel on Waymouth St, where he had a few drinks in the beer garden.

Earlier in the week, the actor - wearing shorts, a white shirt and a backpack - was seen riding a bike on his own through Adelaide.

Confidential understands Rob was scheduled to leave Adelaide this weekend to start shooting on The Rover, with production set to begin this week.

New Rob Interview With Toronto.com - Talks About His Reaction at the Cosmopolis Screening in Cannes

CANNES, FRANCE—Robert Pattinson swears he can tell how people are enjoying his movies by how many coughs he hears from the audience.

He employed this unique gauge at the May 25 Cannes Film Festival world premiere of Cosmopolis, his new movie directed by David Cronenberg.

I watched it at the screening last night, but I wasn’t even watching,” Pattinson, 26, tells a roundtable of journalists.

I was just listening for every cough: Please don’t cough! Please don’t cough!

He seems awfully nervous for one so successful. He’s the lead star of the Twilight franchise, playing moody vampire Edward Cullen, a role that has made him famous and rich. Pattinson also had a small role in another big film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

He’s neither new at this game nor naïve. Could he really suffer from self-doubt?

Oh, completely,” he says, sucking on a lollipop for sustenance.

I want that the whole time. Even for this screening. I was pissed off about everything, completely worried, incredibly stressful thing. But my manager was like, ‘You’re not happy at all?’ No, no, people are all coughing! They’re coughing because they’re bored!

It’s f---ing crazy. Coughing! It’s all I can think about. But I like that. You’ve got to burn. As soon as you start thinking you’re good, you’re s--t. So yeah, it’s an annoying way to live, but yeah.”

He’s equally candid about his doubts whether to accept the lead role of Eric Packer, the 28-year-old billionaire in Cosmopolis who goes off the reservation for a day-long Manhattan odyssey in a white stretch limo.

“It seems complicated on the page (Don DeLillo’s book and Cronenberg’s screenplay), and I thought making the decision whether to do it or not seemed like the only difficult part of it.

“Could I actually do it? I didn’t know. David offered it to me and I didn’t know. I know it’s really good, and it’s Cronenberg, so it’s really cool. But on the other side, you’re in every scene, so if you f--- it up, you f--- up the whole movie.”

So here Pattinson is at the Cannes Film Festival, holding court with ink-stained wretches, and actually seeming to enjoy himself while doing so. Maybe it’s because no one is coughing.

It helps that his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, his vampire love on-screen and real one off-screen, was also in Cannes, presenting her own new film, On the Road. The two walked the red carpet together.

Pattinson hasn’t always been this wound up. He got that way after Twilight launched millions of teen sighs — and shivers.

Yeah, because no one cared before (Twilight). It’s easier now to sell things to people, but afterwards, it’s weird. If everyone thinks something is good, you’re the one who thinks it’s s--t. If everyone is saying it’s bad, you’re like, ‘That’s the only time you think it’s good. You’re the only one that thinks it.’

These feelings were intensified for him at Cannes, because Cosmopolis was competing for the Palme d’Or, the fest’s top prize (it didn’t win).

Normally you wait for reviews or whatever, but when you’re presenting it to a (potentially) hostile audience, it’s crazy. Not knowing the whole time whether or not people will boo . . . and you have to sit there. I was talking to David before the screening, asking him, ‘Instead of an ovation, could they do a 20-minute booing thing?’”

Cronenberg calmed him down. But the director obviously picked the right man to play Eric Packer, who doesn’t seem to know how to relax. He’s constantly in full fidget, even while sitting stock still in his limo.

Pattinson realizes this, and it’s why he liked the role.

There’s a constant energy there. You want chaos to happen. He doesn’t know the answers. It’s like a really young adolescent thing: There has to be something else! The longer you hold on to that, it gets crazier and crazier. Sometimes craziness is a good thing.”

Except when people are coughing.

Rob Spotted in Old Town Alexandria on Saturday Night (April 28th)

Film star Robert Pattinson autographed a menu at The Majestic Saturday for Eve Armstrong, 13-year-old daughter of Chef Cathal Armstrong.

Patrons at The Majestic got a pleasant surprise Saturday night when film star Robert Pattinson, most famous for his role playing a forever-young teenage vampire Edward in the "Twilight" films, strolled in for dinner with friends while in town for the White House Correspondents Dinner.

The Majestic is a cozy upscale diner on King Street in historic Alexandria, a suburb of Washington, D.C., in Virginia that specializes in comfort food.

Pattinson, 25, a London native, mingled easily with the crowd at the bar while waiting for a table, according to Jennie Kuperstein, publicist for The Eat Good Food Group.

Pattinson dined with four friends, ordering a steak—medium rare—prepared by Majestic Chef Shannon Overmiller and autographing a menu for Eve Armstrong, Chef Cathal Armstrong's 13-year-old daughter. The steak on the menu is described as "All Natural Virginia New York Strip Steak" which comes with fries and sells for $27.

Rob is #2 on The Sunday Times' Young Rich List

LONDON - Actors, such as Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson, musicians, led by Adele, and models dominate the Young Rich List of British millionaires age 30 and under that "The Sunday Times" is scheduled to publish later this month.

Its Rich List 2012, set to come out on April 29, includes 60 young millionaires along with the 1,000 richest people in Britain and the 250 richest in Ireland, the paper said.

Outside of sports, which has its own Times rich list in May, more than half of the wealthiest young people in the U.K. are entertainers, according to the paper.

The young entertainment crowd is led by Harry Potter star Radcliffe, 22, who is worth $31.8 (£54) million, the Times said. He has increased his wealth by $9.5 million over the past year, helped by the success of his latest movie, The Woman in Black.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson saw a bigger $12.7 million gain in his net worth over the past year, but comes in second with $63.6 million.

Harry Potter co-stars Emma Watson ($41.4 million, up from $38.2 million) and Rupert Grint (unchanged at $38.2 million) rank fifth and sixth on the actors' list.

Adele, 23, is the young British entertainer who made the biggest jump in the past year. The pop singer more than tripled her wealth thanks to her second album 21 to $31.8 million.

More Details about Rob and Kristen's Pre-Oscar Party Weekend

More pictures and details about Rob and Kristen's Pre-Oscar party night last Friday were posted here

From People

Longtime lovebirds Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart made a rare semi-public appearance together during the Oscar weekend in Los Angeles.

The couple attended WME's Grey Goose-hosted pre-Oscar bash at agent Ari Emanuel's house and were "quite affectionate" in front of other revelers, a source says. Adds the source: "[They] seemed very comfortable and sweet with each other." The duo mingled with guests such as the Kardashians, Miley Cyrus and beau Liam Hemsworth.

The following night, the two stepped out for dinner at Il Covo, where they were joined by four friends, including actress Mia Wasikowska for their meal on the restaurant's patio. The couple were the last to arrive at the party, and they each sipped a beer. Later, Stewart ordered a tequila cocktail. Unlike at the WME party, at dinner the couple kept their PDA to a minimum.

Friday an insider spotted Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson getting “very affectionate” inside the private party. We’re told Kristen, who was seen sporting a plaid shirt, jeans and heels apparently looked happy as can be with her gorgeous boyfriend.

“They arrived together and rarely left each others sides,” a partygoer tells us. “It was sweet, they mingled with guests but were conscience of where the other was. There was no shortage of PDA! They held hands throughout the evening.”

After arriving they caught up briefly with fellow guest and Breaking Dawn co-star Taylor Lautner! Apparently Rob sipped on some champagne while Kristen greeted a few other friends.
