Rob Has Been Named Go Campaign's First Ambassador

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 2, 2015) – Robert Pattinson (The Rover, Life, Twilight Saga), has been named Ambassador for GO Campaign, as announced today by Founder & CEO Scott Fifer. As Ambassador, Pattinson will help raise international awareness of the non-profit organization and support their fundraising endeavors throughout the year.

Pattinson will attend GO Campaign events, introduce GO Campaign to new people and companies interested in learning more, and help to raise the international profile of the organization as they head into their 10th year next year.

GO Campaign improves the lives of orphans and vulnerable children around the world by partnering with local heroes to deliver local solutions. The organization connects donors to high-impact grassroots projects aimed at changing lives and transforming communities; the grassroots organizations provide children and young adults with critical services. GO Campaign supports and raises awareness about the small but highly impactful local organizations that provide shelter, food, clean water, medical care, education, vocational training and income-generating activities. Providing these services and opportunities, GO Campaign helps them build a better future which is a critical part of the solution when it comes to fighting poverty. From East L.A. to East Africa, GO Campaign has impacted over 76,000 children across 20 countries since its inception in 2006.

“I’ve eagerly followed the growing impact GO Campaign has had over the years, on so many children and youth, and I love how tangible and transparent it is. They partner with some remarkable grassroots local heroes who are doing fantastic work but who lack the needed resources, and in places where a little bit of money can go a long way. I’ve been a donor and a supporter, and now I look forward to joining their efforts, so together we can give opportunity to even more kids and young adults across the globe,” stated Pattinson.

Pattinson has been a staunch supporter of the organization for several years, attending their annual galas and providing auctionable items for the annual fundraising efforts. In 2011 he donated a set visit and meet and greet on the set of Twilight: Breaking Dawn that sold for $80,000. Those funds were used to build a center for girls’ education in Cambodia. “It was Rob’s idea to become our ambassador”, stated Fifer, “just as it was his idea to donate the set visit back in 2011. He really believes in what we do, and that’s the most we could ever ask for in an ambassador. We are thrilled to have him get even more involved and help us raise greater awareness as GO Campaign heads into our 10th year of giving opportunity to children around the world.”

Hosted by Ewan McGregor, this year’s annual gala is scheduled for November 12 at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills and will honor Abel Barrera Hernandez, Mexico’s leading human rights activist/educator; Favio Chavez and the Recycled Orchestra from Paraguay who play instruments made out of trash; and Neema Namadamu, a disabled community activist fighting for the rights of girls and women in the Congo. 100% of Gala ticket proceeds fund GO Campaign’s grantmaking for local heroes here at home and around the world.

Rob Will Attend HFPA Charity Banquet Tonight - Livestream Will Be Available

There will be a livestream on HFPA.ORG or GOLDENGLOBES.COM (The banner on HFPA site indicates that the livestream starts at 5PM PST, however the banner tweeted by @goldenglobes says 7PM. If you want to watch the livestream, make sure to be here around 5PM just to be safe)

The HFPA is to give away almost $2 million at a star-studded donations banquet on Thursday at the Beverly Hilton

Surprise guests will join the many celebrities in accepting the donations on behalf of various charities. Celebrities who will be attending include Andy Samberg, Kerry Washington, Rob Pattinson, Sofia Vergara, Morgan Freeman, Elle Fanning, Patricia Arquette, Anne Heche, Franka Potente, Chris Evans, and James Marsden.

This year’s donations bring the amount given away by the HFPA over the last 20 years to $20 million and mark the latest in ever-increasing amounts of money the organization has given to some 50 diverse entertainment-related and charitable organizations. For the first time the checks will be handed out at an evening banquet instead of at a lunch.

HFPA president Theo Kingma, said: “We try every year to give as much as we can to these highly deserving organizations. It is gratifying to know that our efforts are appreciated and we are helping to further the cause of education and film preservation.”
As well as the preservation of film, the donations are for a wide range of projects, including higher education, training and mentoring and the promotion of cultural exchange through film.

Historically the Film Foundation has received the largest single donation and this year receives $35,000. So far the HFPA has been responsible for the restoration of more than 80 films. Among its many additional charities the HFPA provides scholarships, supports filmmaker training in Kenyan refugee camps and donates money to theater groups, musicians, storytellers’ foundations, film archives and youth projects, as well as many other worthy causes.

Founded in the 1940s during World War II, the HFPA was originally comprised of a handful of LA based overseas journalists who sought to bridge the international community with Hollywood, and to provide distraction from the hardships of war through film. Seventy years later, members of the HFPA represent 55 countries with a combined readership of 250 million in some of the world’s most respected publications. Each year, the organization holds the third most watched awards show on television, the Golden Globe Awards, which have enabled the organization to donate almost $20 million to entertainment related charities and scholarship programs.

The next Golden Globe awards will be held on January 11 2015.

New Video, Pictures and Details: Rob Visits Kids at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (Aug 16th)

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com
On Friday, Aug. 16, Robert Pattinson, actor and star of mega-hit movies “The Twilight Saga” and “Water for Elephants” dropped by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to spread cheer and visit with patients.

Teens from across the hospital—including the Acute Rehabilitation Center, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and The Heart Institute—gathered in the hospital’s Teen Lounge for a surprise guest. When Pattinson arrived, one young girl giggled and cried in awe. But the down-to-earth actor quickly settled the room and jumped into arts and crafts, decorating picture frames alongside patients. Pattinson laughed at his own creation—a pink frame with hearts sketched in—and tried unsuccessfully to convince the room of his “terrible” artistic skills.

The star graciously posed for endless photographs and signed every patient’s picture frame before heading off to visit two cystic fibrosis patients and huge Twilight fans who were unable to leave their rooms.

“We couldn’t help laughing and smiling when one of the patients was so starstruck she that couldn’t speak. You could tell it meant the world to her—she was tearing up and smiling ear to ear as we were leaving,” said Lyndsay Hutchison, senior public information officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “The other little girl teased him relentlessly and begged him to do an American accent. They were instant friends.”

“Robert was so nervous about meeting the kids—he didn’t want to let them down—which is a testament to how humble he is. He was incredibly gracious and kind. He will probably never fully understand what a huge lift he gave to these kids today, and how it will positively impact them over the long term,” shared Child Life specialist, Ana Vega.

Pattinson was able to visit the hospital because an upcoming movie, “Maps to the Stars,” which Pattinson is currently filming in Los Angeles will feature a short scene (not featuring Pattinson) in front of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Keep an eye out for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles when the film hits theaters!

Tweets

I CAN'T BREATHE I JUST MET ROBERT PATTINSON I'M NOT EVEN LYING
It was in LA at a hospital
He had like people with him I guess like assistants and staff but otherwise it was just him
He didn't have any cameras with him which made me love him even more because he didn't do this for the media
He was visiting the patients there :) He is so sweet
Meeting Robert was literally a dream come true! I was so ridiculously shy but he was kind of shy too! His smile made my heart swell
We shared a few words but we were both shy. I took up most of the time trying not to fan girl
I honestly cried when he left. I didn't want him to see my cry so I held in it but I mean as soon as he left the tears streamed down my face
I am stuck in this hospital room but the woman told me he met another fan and her heart rate went up. He was scared for her.
e don't know if he went to any other floors but he visited two people in isolation (including me) and went to a patient lounge
But what warmed my heart a lot was the fact that Rob came into the room without looking at me as something contagious. He hugged me!
