Paul Darnell, Rob's stunt double, talks about working with him in RM, WFE and the Twilight Saga movies

RobPattzNews got an exclusive interview with Paul Darnell, Rob's stunt double. Here what he said about working with Rob in the Twilight Saga movies, Remember Me and Water for Elephants. Really good read :)

You can read Paul's full interview at the source

How did you react when Robert Pattinson thanked you for his Twilight “Best Fight” MTV Movie Award? Can you share your experience in filming that scene?

First let me say that Robert Pattinson is an amazingly humble person and a very hard worker. He works very hard and shows up to every rehearsal. The last battle scene in Twilight was very intense. Many of the stunts involved hard hits with wires and crashes which are so much fun to do! Without risking personal injury to Rob, I ended up doing the majority of stunts in the final battle which won the award.

I was at a friend's house and I started getting text messages and phone calls from friends saying "I think Rob Pattinson just thanked you on national TV". I was really stoked and also a little confused by the "I think" part. Immediately I went online and found a video of Rob's speech where he gave me credit for the award but said the wrong last name. To his credit, someone had misspelled my name on a photo shoot for LA Magazine and my wrong last name was plastered all over the internet. None the less, I was so stoked that he would even think of me for a shot out. Actors rarely do that for stuntmen. Rob is a very considerate individual and true gentleman. When I saw him on the set of Remember Me he immediately apologized for the mishap.

How has the experience of being Robert Pattinson’s stunt double varied from Twilight to Remember Me to Water for Elephants for you?

It has been amazing to see Rob's fame grow and grow. His fan base is grown so much since the first Twilight and I am very happy for him. He also continues to stay the same humble guy each time I see him.

Can you share any of the experience of last summer’s filming of Water for Elephants?

A terrific book turned into an even greater film with 3 outstanding actors. The three, Reese, Rob and Christoph, worked together amazingly. Rob also did an amazing job learning and performing the fights and working with the animals. Rob has a scene feeding tigers, REAL tigers, that could eat you if they wanted. Rob played it cool and had no problems working with them at all. Probably better than I could.

What are you currently working on?

I'm lucky enough to be working again with Rob on Breaking Dawn which has even more action than any of the other Twilights. Can't say much other than it is going to be an amazing film!

Remember Me - One of the Most Profitable Films in 2010

The Numbers.com site has analysed the crop of 2010 and has come up with their list of most the most profitable films for the year.

This week we continue our wrap-up of 2010 by looking at the year's most profitable films. In making this calculation, we took the production budget, domestic and international box office and domestic DVD sales for each movie released during the year and calculated a rough total gross profit for the film. There's just one chart this week, but we think you'll find it interesting.

Remember Me just makes it on the list of 30 films with a comparative profit of $20,996,644. Other films that are included on this list are Toy Story 3 and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

“Remember Me" in Moviehole's – Clint’s Top 10 Films of 2010

10. Remember Me

I remember getting an Atari for my 10th birthday. That was a big surprise. When I caught the top of those tiny ted joysticks atop of their black spongy controls, I knew my entry into double figure land was going to be one to remember. Wanna know what a bigger surprise was? ”Remember Me”! This truly out Gorfed Gorf and Swallowed Pac Man hole in terms of pleasant surprises – I kid you not. Say what you will about his sparkling work in those vampire pics, Robert Pattinson delivers one of the richest and most weighty performances of any actor this year with his uneasy son and lover at the center of director Allen Coulter’s love letter to 9/11 (yes, there is such a thing). Catch it on DVD – you’ll find it, unjustly, at the ‘bottom’ of the new releases shelf.

Remember Me is one of the '10 Great Films You Missed in 2010'

From Moviehole

Remember Me

I know, I know, ‘but it’s got that guy with more gunk in his hair than Liz Hurley does in her nether regions’ but c’mon! many-a-good-actor have started out in the cinematic mailroom and graduated to an awe-impressive high-rise suite – just look at Robin ‘Mork’ Williams, Josh ‘Goonies’ Brolin, Tom ‘Bosom Buddies’ Hanks or Stephen ‘Evil Ed’ Geoffries! (Ok, bad example) – ain’t Robert Pattinson innocent until the gavel slams down!? This film, a heartrending relationship drama (it’s both about the rapport between a young couple and also one between a young man and his estranged father) that played to the tick of a 9/11 countdown, proved there’s much more to “Twilight” vamp Robert Pattinson than blank stares, sparkles and tree hopping. Quite simply, Pattinson was an eye-opener in this film. Skeptics need see it.

'Remember Me' in Film.com 'Top Ten Movies of 2010' - "Remember Me was Massively Underrated"

ETA: Added article from LA Times - Overlook at the most underappreciated movies of the year. Remember Me is mentioned

Massively Underrated: Youth in Revolt / Remember Me

Youth in Revolt was an innovative comedy, but it was released during a time period where people skip the theatrical experience. And if Remember Me had featured Ryan Gosling instead of Robert Pattinson it would have been correctly hailed as great. But people got far too caught up in the ending and Pattinson's celebrity to catch that he was really freaking good in this movie. Definitely worth a watch if you you're a fan of relationship dramas

Full list at Film.com | Via

And from LA Times

Last week, we wondered which film was the most under-appreciated of 2010. Through tweets, e-mails and comments, many of you weighed in with your choices.

Some of the more popular picks didn't surprise -- they were big-release movies with a distinct sensibility that got dissed despite (or because) they felt unique -- "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" most notably among them, or even the Sept. 11 romantic tearjerker "Remember Me."

Scans/Translation: Rob in Por Ti magazine - Old interview from the Remember Me press junket

imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com imagebam.com

Por Ti magazine has an interview from the Remember Me press junket in their latest issue. Seems like the same questions/answers we read at that time, just a few different quotes/words, probably lost in translation.

Robert Pattinson: Remember Me
“In some ways I would like to be like Tyler, my character in the film.”

Remember Me: The Plot
Tyler is a conflicted young man who has problems with his family and with life. But the day he meets Ally, his life changes! Together they live out an unforgettable love story.

Robert Pattinson: “I am romantic in my own way.”
He’s not one to talk about his personal life, but with Por Ti he made an exception!

In Remember Me, our sexy Rob plays Tyler, a young man with many problems. With this pretense, we are launched into New York, where we prove once again that the actor continues being that shy young man, who, since the Twilight saga, stole our hearts.

Por Ti: Rob, tell us, in this movie we see you as much more aggressive. Was it hard work to give life to Tyler, your character?
Rob: No, because I understand perfectly the anger someone feels towards themselves in life in general.

Por Ti: But if you seem to be a super calm guy…
Rob: Appearances can be deceiving [laughs]. In my adolescent years I put an end to fights, but the majority of the time I never entered in to any. One time I got punched in the nose [laughs] without meaning to or being afraid of it. It was a real disaster.

Por Ti: Really? Did you at least win one?

Rob: No, not now or ever [laughs]. When we shot Remember Me, the guys I was fighting with would die of laughter because I would hurt my hands from so many punches, while they didn’t feel a thing!

Por Ti: And was it hard to film the bar fight scene?
Rob: [laughs] In that fight, as I hit with twice my strength and apologized to him, he said, “Don’t worry, I didn’t even feel the hit.” It was humiliating [laughs even harder].

Por Ti: Wow, what a good story! Hey, that rebel reputation, are you sure you weren’t like that when you were younger?
Rob: I really never was. I actually think now is when I’ve been most like that.

Por Ti: Do you think that’s due to the pressure that fame puts on you?
Rob: Exactly. When the whole world is watching you, they create stories and give you labels that have nothing to do with you. It’s almost impossible for you not to explode!

Por Ti: And surely you’re more followed now that you have a famous girlfriend…
Rob: [laughs] It’s difficult for anyone. Lots of people think our lives are all about taking pictures and stuff like that. But it becomes a real bother when they’re taking pictures of you all the time.

Por Ti: Are you the kind to get riled easily?
Rob: Generally, no. You know why? Because with my characters I can vent the internal anger I have.

Por Ti: Is there anything that can provoke you to lose control?

Rob: Yes, there is something. I hate that people have prejudices about me!

Por Ti: A prejudice for you would be that people think you’re not romantic?
Rob: That’s not true. In my own way, I’m very romantic. For me it means seeing love through the eyes of a child, without letting yourself be influenced by negative experiences.

Por Ti: The movie also talks about the good and bad things in life. Do you ever think that what you have could come to an end?
Rob: Yes, for that reason I intend to enjoy what I have, live in the present. The future? We’ll see.
