James Franco compares Rob and Taylor in the tent scene to 'Brokeback Mountain' and talks Breaking Dawn sex scene

What we love about James Franco is that, despite pursuing a Ph.D. at Yale, garnering serious Oscar buzz in "127 Hours" and embodying a Hollywood A-list persona, he's taken time out of his busy schedule to keep up with the trends. That's right, James has both read and watched the "Twilight" books and films, and when MTV News caught up with him at the Toronto International Film Festival where he was promoting "127 Hours," he spent more time talking about the phenomenon than the film's stars typically do.

While he may not be a self-proclaimed Twi-hard after reading the series, James can at least reference Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner on a first name basis (you'd be surprised to find there are celebs out there who can't), and can clearly understand the deeper metaphors of the stories.

"I wouldn't say I enjoy them, but I'm fascinated with them," James said about the books. "I'm interested in the metaphor of the vampire placed in the high school setting and how a relationship with a vampire can stand in for general feelings that people have as teenagers. And the obsession people have with that is also fascinating to me."

James also took some time analyzing the role of the films in the whole "Twilight" craze. "It's really hard to extricate those actors from the reading experience of just the phenomenon of 'Twilight' now," he said. He also gave a shout-out to the self-references of "Eclipse" that we loved so much.

"The movies are almost commenting on themselves," he said. "There will be a scene where the go-to guys, Taylor and Rob, are in the tent, it's almost like a 'Brokeback Mountain' scene, where the two guys are talking in a tent and the girl is asleep, and they're having, like, this romantic moment almost through her, in a way. One of them says, 'Well, I'm hotter than you,' and it's almost like they're winking at the fans, like to the Team Jacob or the Team Edwards."

But he does have one "Twilight" concession to make: He hasn't finished reading "Breaking Dawn." He has heard a bit about the birthing scene ("I kind of know what happens, some very strange birth, right?" he asked rhetorically), but at least his reasoning for calling it quits part way through the book matches our own frustrations when we were reading it the first time!

"I read a part of it. I think I got to the sex scene, but it was so brief, I didn't even know if it was the actual sex scene," he admitted. "It was kind of a letdown after all that buildup."

Italian & Polish 'Water For Elephants' Release Date

Poland

May 6, 2011

Italy

There was much curiosity, especially among fans of Robert Pattinson, to know when arriving in Italy Water for Elephants, which also starring Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon. Now we say that the release date is..... April 29, 2011, just two weeks after landing in the United States. The information was communicated to us directly today by Fox and all the fans should cheer (especially the fans) Robert Pattinson, so that should not wait too long before seeing this film. Obviously, there are still many months in late April 2011, one can not exclude a rollover, but when we confirm that the film is scheduled for April 29, 2011.

In the film, Pattinson plays a young veterinarian hired a traveling circus, the Gasoline Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth during the era of the Great Depression. Here you will meet Marlena (Witherspoon), a beautiful headstock married to August, the charismatic but irascible animal trainer (Waltz). Water for Elephants is based on a novel by Sara Gruen and will arrive in theaters April 15, 2011, in Italy April 29, 2011.

New/Old Picture of Rob and a fan (July 2010) + Fan Encounter

From the comments (#630, #638, #651, #668, #677) on the board

"Ok here it is. my picture with robert taken by kristen in a resort hotel in santa barbara, july. they were very nice. they were sharing a meal eating on the same plate. i didn't want to disturb them but i had to because i'll never have this opportunity ever again. kristen refused but its ok. she gave me an autograph instead.

Yes 4th of july weekend

They seem like a normal couple. just having dinner together. my friend heard robert call kristen honey but i though i heard baby. i really don't know for sure. hehe. the staff said they were staying in the villa so we really didn't see them much around.

That was taken in california while i was having a vacation 2 months ago. i'm not form the US. they look like a normal couple to us. they were eating on the same plate, sitting next to each other, talking, kinda touchy but nothing major like kissing or hugging. kristen's really short but she's prettier in person. robert looks good too."

my daughter has kristen's autograph. she's in california. i'll ask her to scan it for me next time."

How to ask someone for their hair? I don't know, but MTV's 'Buried Life' got a lock of Rob's hair

They talk about the dare of stealing a lock of Rob's hair at 1:35

Hit on Megan Fox? Check! Attend a party at the Playboy Mansion? Check! Have the absolute time of your life? The four stars of The Buried Life on MTV are definitely getting there.

Those are just a few of the goals the guys accomplished last season, and the next chapter seems even better! On The Red Carpet caught up with stars Dave Lingwood and Jonnie Penn at the MTV Video Music Awards, who told us they’re getting closer and closer to all of their goals.

“One of the things on the list was to accept a dare, off the internet,” Penn said. “And they voted and said to steal a lock of Robert Pattinson’s hair. And we managed to do it. That was probably the weirdest thing we’ve ever done.”

“I don’t recommend going up to someone and asking them for their hair. It’s just awkward and weird,” laughed Lingwood.

For those of you that don’t know, The Buried Life is based on a bucket list of goals they guys want to complete in their lives. The difference is they’re going for them now, while still in their 20’s!

more pictures from London

Fan encounters from both pictures added :) Thanks Lynne and kaz_53 in the comments.

From Lynne

Hi I'm Lynne I'm the lady in the pink check shirt with smiley Rob. Here's an account of our encounter with Rob.I'm still on an adrenaline high. Rob was so lovely in person, very softly spoken and polite. He asked me my name when he gave us an autograph too. I told him it was lovely to see him back in the Uk and that we had missed him. I asked him how long he was staying in London and he told me (but I won't post for his privacy) I told him about the Facebook Group I am an admin of "Robert Pattinson...It's always been him" and about a welcome home gift the admins had sent him. He said he hadn't received it and asked me where I'd sent it and I told him to his Agents in London. He laughed and said Oh. I said I was really looking forward to Bel Ami coming out and wondered when it would be released....he said "I know...me too", like he was wondering when it was going to be as well. Later that evening he was outside having a cigarette and I was outside too, a couple of other fans were getting pics so I asked if he wouldn't mind me having a pic and he was happy to oblige, he said "sure". I told him about a Ren & Stimpy tshirt we sent him as part of his welcome home gift and and he laughed. I said you must get really fed up of people asking you for pics and that I was sorry to ask and said he didn't mind, it was okay and he meant it. When we went back in to the church for the rest of the gig I was at the back buying a Marcus Foster CD then the gig started and someone had pinched our seats so we stood at the back and Rob, TomStu and Marcus Foster stood literally right in front of us I could have touched him without even stretching. His hair is growing back nicely and his beard is really quite long now. He looked as if he'd lost a little weight but still looked gorgeous. As he walked away after about 1/2 hour to go outside for a cigarette, a fan letter to Kristen fell out of his pocket. He didn't see it fall so I picked it up and touched his arm to get his attention to give it back to him. I said "you dropped this"....he didn't hear me because the music was loud so he said "sorry?" so I had to get up close to say it to him again. I passed him the letter and he said "thanks". When we left later he was outside having a chat and a beer with his buddies, so we just walked past and had to go home. I'm still on cloud 9, this is the stuff dreams are made of, in fact this was better than the dreams I've had!! What a night, one I'll never forget.

The only thing he did ask was us not to take a pic of him inside the gig, he did not want to bring attention to himself. He was happy to have his pic taken with me outside when there were very few people out there. He is such a down to earth, normal person it was so strange. I have been a massive Rob fan for so long now, I live breathe, eat, dream everything Rob. I am a happily married mum of 4 kids but love this man and his work so much. He is a total phenomenon and I am so happy to have had this opportunity with him that I could only have ever dreamed about. I did briefly see him at the Remember Me premiere in London earlier this year as I had a ticket to see the movie and walk the red carpet but never "connected" with him, so this was just out of this world. I did want to stroke his beard I must admit, he seemed to do it alot. You could see the pure joy on his face when his buddy Marcus Foster was on stage doing his part of the gig, I could tell he was so happy to be there watching him. And I heard him laugh out loud just as we were leaving, it was like oxygen to me....I love to hear it. I'm not sure when I'm going to regain proper use of my legs, they still feel like jelly over 12 hours later!

From kaz_53

thats me in the second photo he was so lovely and kind and wow girls he is everything you think he would be and more xx

we were at the concert when an hour in he walks in i couldnt believe it my heart went after a few mins we asked for his autograph and he said sure he asked my name and signed it we told him we had sent him a present from our facebook page robert pattinson..its always been him ,and he said he hadnt recieved it yet ,then when we was out side he came out for a cig and a couple of girls asked for photos ,so we asked if we could have one and he said sure ,i said to him im sorry to ask i bet you get sick of people asking you for this and he said its fine and your welcome ,and then we stood about a foot away from him for about 20 min while he watched the gig with his friends and a beer in his hand every one there was really good with him and mostly left him alone when he was inside and he seemed really chilled wow what a night x

New/Old Interview from the Eclipse Press Junket

Most of the same questions, but a few new ones, like what how does he see himself ten years from now and how he defines Edward: rebel, hopeless romantic or stalker.

And a video from the Premiere, nothing new, he just looked really good that day.
