New info on Dior's Commercial? The Director's Name?

We usually don't post any rumors but this seems to be some pretty legit information, coming directly from one of the official Cannes' Press kits.

Laura who was kind enough to email us, did some research and found new information about a "soon-to-be-released Dior commercial starring Robert Pattinson".

You can find the exact quote in the Press Kit for the movie 'All is Lost' on page 13.

Peter Zuccarini is listed as "underwater director of photography" in the press kit. On his imdb page, we can find a Dior commerical with Romain Garvas' name attached to it.

It's not much, but it looks like we now know the name of the director who did the commercial: Romain Gavras (he's on twitter - @ROMAIN_GAVRAS)

What's even more exciting and interesting though, is that Rob seems to be a fan of his work. Back in August, during the NYC Cosmopolis promo, Rob mentioned Romain Gavras' name HERE (last video of the post) at 00:28.
Josh Horowitz asked him who he wanted to win for the 'VMA Picks For Video Of The Year'. In case you can't see the video, here's a short transcript:

Josh: "Do you have a favorite among these?
Rob: "I mean, ... I love Romain Gavras who did the M.I.A. video."

Mathieu Carratier, Editor-in-Chief of Première Magazine tweeted about Rob working/meeting with 2 directors

Première Magazine's Editor-in-chief, Mathieu Carratier tweeted this morning about Rob and two directors. He said that Rob is set up to work with Werner Herzog and is "spending time" with Harmony Korine.

Ok, real info then: Robert Pattinson is preparing a movie with Werner Herzog.

Since it seems to interest you, I can also tell you that Robert Pattinson has been spending time with Harmony Korine lately.

While we don't have any confirmed details about that information, what we DO KNOW is that Première is a very respectable magazine and the tweets came directly from it's Editor-in-chief. His later tweets show that he doesn't have a lot more info about this movie but hopefully we'll know more soon.

Another New Project for Rob? 'Hate Mail'

In an article about the 'Lawless' afterparty in Cannes, they talk about Michael Benaroya of Benaroya Pictures, producer of the movie, and the movie he's financing. There's a Rob mention. Is that one of Rob's "five projects"? We'll wait for more info

Benaroya, who co-produced “Margin Call” last year, is fully financing “Kill Your Darlings,” a $4 million thriller with Daniel Radcliffe and Michael C. Hall about young beat poets Allen Ginsburg and Jack Kerouac and a murder.

And he’s also financing the $11 million “Hate Mail,” with Scarlett Johansson, Robert Pattinson and Philip Seymour Hall. And he executive produced “The Paperboy,” also screening in competition in Cannes.

That's a lot of money to be throwing down. Benaroya, apart from noting that he's only lost money on one movie he's made thus far, said he likes to gamble.

“I’m a serious poker player," he said. "People like to underestimate me: ‘You look 25. You look like a nice guy. I’m gonna take you for everything you’ve got.’ They’re often surprised when they don’t.”

If the info in the article is correct, I believe they meant Philip Seymour Hoffman, not Hall. Just a typo.

Cosmopolis' Official Screening at Cannes on May 25 According to Cineuropa

According to Cineuropa's article about Kinology's sales at Cannes, the official Cosmopolis' screening at the festival will be on May 25.

With three titles on show in the various Cannes selections, Parisian international sales agencyKinology, led by Grégoire Melin, is among the potential grand winners of the Film Market at the upcoming 65th Cannes Film Festival (May 16 to 27).

Kinology will complete already quite substantial sales for Canadian-French co-production Cosmopolis by David Cronenberg, a film to be officially screened in the festival’s competition on Friday, May 25.

Cineuropa is a very reliable site, but we don't know if they're confusing the screening date with the French release date (also May 25th).
We'll have confirmation soon. Cannes' schedule should be released in a few days (on May 10th according to replies to fans' emails from the official Festival's site). We will know for sure then.

Could we expect a Cosmopolis trailer this Friday?

@patsystew emailed Cosmopolis' executive producer, Gregoire Melin and according to him the trailer will be sent out (to the media?) this Friday! It might mean that they're planning to release the trailer soon but not exactly this Friday.

We can't be sure who he is adressing in his email. Could it be media outlets? Distributors? We'll have to wait and see.

Cosmopolis and Cannes - What's the buzz?

Cineuropa recently posted an article speculating about Cannes with a list of films that will likely make it to the festival. Cosmopolis was included.

As Berlinale comes to a close, professionals have turned their attention to the 65th Cannes Film Festival, to be held from May 16 to 27, and observers are already speculating about the films that will be selected this year by Thierry Frémaux.

Among those most likely to make it to Cannes are (...) Cosmopolis by Canadian director David Cronenberg.

Also, from Cineuropa, another article where Cosmopolis' executive producer, Grégoire Melin, says he's "counting on" the film going to Cannes.

The European Film Market at the 62nd Berlinale was buzzing for Franco-American production The We and the I by Michel Gondry (photo), pre-sold by the Parisian company Kinology. The new film by the director of Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind was filmed last year in New York in the Bronx, and follows high school students on the bus home on the last day of the school year. The film is a sort of study of group dynamics and the evolution of relationships as the bus gradually becomes emptier, and has been acquired in Berlin for several small territories, according to Grégoire Melin, who will unveil footage from the film a few weeks before Cannes, where he will also be counting on Cosmopolis by David Cronenberg (article), already pre-sold practically everywhere in the world.

Cannes is still a couple of months away so anything can happen, and much can change so this is our more level-headed, buyer-beware cautious entry into the world of speculation that tends to become engulfed in a lot of wishful thinking. Before the end of the year, David Cronenberg told us that he was finishing the sound mix for the film, which means it’s nearing the finish line. Meanwhile, producer Gregoire Melin recently told Cineuropa he is “counting on” the film showing up on the Croisette. Additionally, “Cosmopolis” is a co-production between French and Canadian backers, so we presume we’re looking at Cannes premiere, followed by a TIFF bow before rolling into theaters this fall. Cronenberg is a regular at the festival but hasn’t been there in a decade since “Spider,” so we’re sure they’re going to want him back.

We can't forget about the 'Cosmopolis' poster that was released a couple weeks ago with a new release date: May 18th, 2012. The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 16th to May 27th.

Rumor: Is Rob Recording An Album?

Contrary to online rumors, 'Breaking Dawn' star has no plans to drop an LP, rep confirms to MTV News.

His legions of hopeful fans will be sad to hear it, but despite reports and rumors to the contrary, Robert Pattinson is not recording an album.

On Tuesday (September 20), Us Weekly reported that the "Twilight" superstar was itching to record his own songs, but according to the magazine's two sources, he felt torn between his acting commitments and his love of music. The story further alleged that the 25-year-old would be putting together a guitar-based record in the next few weeks, before the promotional tour for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" kicks into gear.

MTV News reached out to Pattinson's rep, who told us, "The report is untrue. He is not working on an album right now."

Of course, that is not to say Pattinson might not record music someday — he has previously recorded "Never Think" and "Let Me Sign" for the original "Twilight" soundtrack — but it's not happening now.

When we caught up with "Breaking Dawn" director Bill Condon at Comic-Con, he confirmed that there would be some familiar musical themes weaved into the fourth film, courtesy of composer Carter Burwell, who scored the first movie. And while the director would not confirm Pattinson's inclusion on the soundtrack, he hinted that some of the musically inclined castmembers might lend their talents.

"We're just figuring out [the soundtrack] now," Condon said during MTV News' "Breaking Dawn" Comic-Con takeover. "We have a lot of [songs]. We have like 15, I think."

The British actor, 25, is prepping to record an album imminently, two sources tell Us Weekly.

"Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn't allow it," one insider explains of the superstar, who recorded two songs, "Never Think" (which he co-wrote with pal Sam Bradley) and "Let Me Sign" for the original Twilight soundtrack.

"Now he's got some weeks to get everything in line before going back to promoting Breaking Dawn."

But don't expect a chart-topping album with broad mass appeal and a string of top 40 hits. "The album Rob will make will be guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop," explains a second source of the indie-music fan, "Like stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison."

Pattinson frequently had hotel room jam sessions with other Twilight pals while shooting the flicks in Vancouver and elsewhere. His Twilight costar (and fellow musician) Jackson Rathbone said Kristen Stewart's man "loves to play the blues. He can hold his own on a guitar. We enjoyed jamming together when we had the time. Very humble and quiet guy."

"Music is his first love!" says the second source. "He's tortured because he avoids it. When he's sitting around jamming in the studio, it's his favorite moment of life."

To prep for the recording session, the guitar player has been "studying on on other instruments -- like piano and horns," the first source reveals. "It's an obsession for him."

So far, only a rumor, nothing confirmed. The Daily Star (a British tabloid - grain of salt there) listed Rob as one of the actors set to attend 'BAFTA Brits to Watch' at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles on July 9.

No official announcement has been made about the 42 stars selected to attend, except for BAFTA's press release (click to read the full press release) that doesn't mention any names.

BAFTA’s President, HRH The Duke of Cambridge, and HRH The Duchess of Cambridge will attend the event as part of their visit to California, helping highlight the incredible depth and range of great British talent currently emerging in film, television and video games.

‘BAFTA Brits to Watch in partnership with Audi’ will be supported by leading film, television and video game companies who will personally host tables at the black-tie evening event, and invite leading creative practitioners both in front of and behind the camera to join them. The ‘BAFTA Brits to Watch’, hand-picked emerging British talent, will join them at their tables for dinner to make what could be the most important introductions of their careers so far, as well as having the chance to meet Their Royal Highnesses. Examples of their work will be showcased throughout the evening and distributed to the attendees afterwards.

The forty two emerging Brits have been selected by an expert BAFTA panel based on a number of criteria. They will generally not be complete beginners in their industry, and will have already begun to show real promise. BAFTA will announce the names of those attending prior to the event.

Rob, Kristen and Taylor to promote 'Breaking Dawn' in Brazil?

Since Rob and Kristen filmed part of Breaking Dawn in Brazil last year there are rumors about a junket and premiere in Rio. Sergio Sa Leitão, president of RioFilme, confirmed on his twitter that there would be a premiere in the city, but still no news about which actors were going to attend.

Now, Sandy Adamil, director of Paris Filmes (brazilian distributor) talked to O Globo about a junket for Breaking Dawn in Rio with Rob, Kristen and Taylor.

Rough translation

After "Transformers", the next confirmed junkets in Rio are "Mr. Popper," the Fox comedy that will bring Jim Carrey to Rio later this month at a date to be confirmed, "The Twilight: Dawn - Part 1 ", from the successful vampire series, distributed in Brazil by Paris Filmes and scheduled for the second semester, and the animated "Puss in Boots," from Paramount, whose voice actors, Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek, will come in November.

Co-Producer Talks Casting Rumors in Jeff Buckley's Biopic - Mentions Rob

New rumors swirling around the long-awaited Jeff Buckley biopic have falsely pitted actor Penn Badgley as the lead in the film about the late singer-songwriter. According to the film's co-producer, Orian Williams, the gossip surrounding the "Gossip Girl" star is compounded on further inaccuracies that "Twilight" heartthrob Robert Pattinson had been considered a shoe-in for the role of the enigmatic singer-songwriter.

"Penn is not involved in the film at all," Williams said in a phone interview. "It's crazy how these stories get out." When asked about Pattinson's involvement with the film, Williams said that although he's a fan of the British actor, he'd only had preliminary meetings with Pattinson, who was interested in auditioning for the film project, now almost six years in the making. Williams, along with producer Michelle Sy, casting director Billy Hopkins and executive producer Mary Guibert, Buckley's mother, are still seeking out actors for the casting process, which will likely begin in October, Williams said.

Most likely, the film will star an unknown actor who can portray Buckley without the weight of any preconceived Hollywood expectations, added Williams, who helped cast Sam Riley in the lead role of Ian Curtis in the 2007 biopic "Control" about the Joy Division front man. Williams said he's hoping to follow the same standards of finding someone with a low profile who can deliver Buckley's intense personality and haunting falsetto. "[The producers] are all very unified in our search to find the perfect person to play Jeff," Williams said.

Currently, the film is set to shoot in New York and Tennessee, where the story largely takes place. Though he rebuts rumors regarding the part of Buckley, Williams said that all kinds of actors and musicians have expressed interest in auditioning.

"When you have a story about an individual like Jeff you get a lot of interest because his life was so impactful and so short," Williams said.

Buckley was 30 when he drowned in May 1997 after deciding to go swimming in Wolf River Harbor, a slack water channel of the Mississippi River. News of a film about his life circulated as early as 2006, two years before Williams came to the project. Williams said that though the film has had a long gestation period, many measures have been taken to make sure that the foundation and intentions are authentic.

"We’re being very careful about it as we move forward," Williams said. “It takes a while to perfect this type of film. You’ve got to do it for the right reasons.”

First Breaking Dawn trailer and Brazilian Premiere News

Sérgio Sá Leitão, President of RioFilme, tweeted about the first Breaking Dawn trailer and the Brazilian Premiere. Not really breaking news, but during the shooting of BD in Brazil he only tweeted confirmed info.

The first official Breaking Dawn trailer will be exclusively released by MTV during the MTV Movie Awards 2011 in June. And right after on MTV's site.



The Breaking Dawn promotion in Brazil, by Paris Filmes (Brazilian distributor), will be the biggest ever made for a movie in the Brazilian market.



And the premiere is confirmed. Still no date. No details.

Keep in mind that he didn't say if Rob is attending the brazilian premiere. We will know more with time.

Rob Included in Short List of Actors for 'Akira'

EXCLUSIVE: The script for the Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures live action adaptation of anime artist Katsuhiro Otomo’s 6-volume graphic novel Akira has been sent to a short list of actors. The picture is finally taking shape for an August start, following the delivery of a rewrite by Steve Kloves that has director Albert Hughes and the studio brass excited. The story takes place in the rebuilt New Manhattan where a leader of a biker gang saves his friend from a medical experiment. There are two major roles, and I'm told that for Tetsuo, Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield and James McAvoy have been given the new script. For the role of Kaneda, the script has been given to Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Chris Pine, Justin Timberlake and Joaquin Phoenix. The two leads are expected to come from that group of actors.

Andrew Lazar is producing with Appian Way’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran. Akira has been one of Warner Bros' high priority projects since the studio with Legendary Pictures acquired it for a 7-figure sum 2 years ago from manga publisher Kodansha. The intention has been to make 2 films, each covering 3 books in the series. Akira was first adapted for the screen in 1988.

Francis Lawrence tweeted a couple days ago about finishing a new Water for Elephants trailer (see post HERE).

Now, according to the Official Water For Elephants Movie page on Facebook, we know that it will be released next week.



According to Projectionlist (see post HERE) there were two possible release dates for the new trailer, March 4th or March 11th. With the new info, March 4th seems to be the right date *fingers crossed* :)

A Water for Elephants Premiere in Berlin on April 27th?

Director Francis Lawrence tweeted a few weeks ago about the Water for Elephants premiere in NYC (April 17th) and international premieres following the release in the USA - (click HERE to see those tweets).


According to a German newspaper, Rob, Reese and Christoph would be attending about a premiere in Berlin at the Sony Center on April 27th. TOR contacted them about that info.


Translation: Yes, they’re really coming all 3 to Berlin: RP, Reese W. and Christoph Waltz!

The film is a remake of the 2004 film “Dark Arc”.

A major studio is behind the project.

I was given the names and personal cell phone numbers of the potential director and one of the producers.

Potential co-stars are Emma Watson and Casey Affleck as the three lead characters with Rob.

Rob and Emma Watson have signed but Casey Affleck is still in talks.

Robert would be set to play Viscount Laris. He is described as,

Sadly, they did not. The studio and the individuals behind the project may have “No Comment” or say this story is”100% False”. Hard to say…. but the information presented to me was compelling!

Gossip Cop will probably look into this, but if no one is talking yet, I guess only time will tell. Looks like an interesting project.
