Yesterday we talked about the Highest Paid Actors in Hollywood who enjoy the finer things in life like lavish trips to San Tropez, endless shopping at Barney's, and world-class fine dining. We mentioned Harrison Ford, Will Smith, Christian Bale, and Shia LaBeouf but we did not mention Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. In 2008, the newbies did not break the bank in Twilight even though the movie made over $191 million. But good things came to them when they signed on to The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and by good things we mean loads and loads of mulla. Can you guess what Rob and Kristen made for New Moon? For young actors, their $2 million Twilight paycheck was very appropriate. Twilight took $35.7 million dollar to make and grossed close to $200 million in the box office, leaving Rob and Kristen ready for a major raise. According to the reputable Chicago Sun-Times, both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were paid $12 million dollars each to reprise their role for New Moon. Plus the actors would be given 9% of the box office take which is very normal in Hollywood.
While promoting Twilight last fall Rob opened up about picking the right film and taking risks regardless of the paycheck. "The only way to [do] that is to take risks And you need to be able to trust people. So you get a company together with people you know are good and you know work hard and you can make good stuff. That’s kind of what I want to do.” But when you find a movie that fits your style, has a great company behind it, and a heavily padded paycheck, you hit the jackpot just like Rob.
It is unclear how much Taylor Lautner was given to bring back Jacob Black but we are guessing it is not as much as Rob and Kristen. It will be interesting to see how New Moon does this November and if the Holy Trinity is given even more money in the future. Do you think that $12 million is too much or too little for Rob and Kristen?

To tell you the truth I dont see what they did that was soo good before that for them to even earn $2mill for twilight lol. I mean he was in Harry Potter but he didnt have such a big significant role in that to get such pay for twilight. And for goodness sakes Kristen was known but she wasnt a star before twilight soo why she got that much for twilight is beyond me lol.
ReplyDeleteBut $12 million is good enough for people who was relatively unknown about a year ago. There should be no complaints there. But personally I think all these famous actors a to over paid lol.
ReplyDeleteyou have to see this in a different light. The film (Twilight) made a lot of money, so will New Moon, not only the film itself, all the merchandise stuff and so on..
ReplyDeleteSo why should they not get a piece of the cake?
After all, they work for it and they pay with a big loss of their personal lifes, staying in the spotlight 24/7.
Although...I work also hard.. I would be happy with 2 millions ;-)
idk when actors get paid for doing a film but if they get paid before any filming takes place and/or before the film is even released I dont see what they did so good before that for them to even get $2mill for twilight. But I can understand them getting millions after the movies successful release but not beforehand because they were not even famous.
ReplyDeleteIn a way, this is "starter level" ----Hanks, Smith, Crowe, Roberts, Pitt, Jolie make $20 million. (Even if the film flops). So I say that considering the success of the film, they deserve at least the $12 million. Not sure about Taylor, though. He is enjoying the momentum created by Rob and then maybe Kristin.
ReplyDeleteI think they should get a raise! Just think of all the stuff the fans buy with their images on them! 2 million is not much when you think of $191 million in box office alone. Besides, think of how Rob was treated during the promo tour for Twilight, with all the talk of his exploding clown car. To put a 22 year old non native on the highways of L.A. in a POS car is not right! Sure, actors get big paychecks, but without them the movies would suck, big time. If they aren't getting 12 million, they should be!
ReplyDeleteThis is not true. Rob and Kristen signed a three pic deal for less than half a million a piece. No one knew at the time if Twilight would succeed. Breaking Dawn on the other hand will bring them big bucks! This is another reason I hate scummit...they work these kids to death for little money. I just hope Rob and Kristen do get millions for BD.
ReplyDeleteWow, Raven...hopefully they renogatiated their contracts based on the success of these films. I love "hobo Rob", but half a million for that mall tour, interview marathon etc. is a total ripoff.
