Shooting 'Remember Me' has made 'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson sick of New York, and its women

Robert Pattinson's sexy brooding isn't an act: The "Twilight" star is seriously bummed by New York ... and its women!

On-set sources from the hunky Brit’s new film, "Remember Me," now filming in the Big Apple, reveal that the actor is hopelessly homesick for London.

"Robert is dying to get back home," says an insider. "He's so over everything. He's overwhelmed by all the girls — they terrify him! He says girls grab his neck and clothing all of the time, and he’s not used to that. Fans don’t do that to him in London. Everyone there is a little cooler about the fame thing, which is what he’s used to.”

The star’s blatant unhappiness even has his "Remember Me" co-stars concerned. "He's so skinny and stressed. Everyone on set is worried about him," confesses our source.

Clearly Pattinson, who shot to fame as teenage vampire Edward Cullen in "Twilight," isn’t enjoying his heartthrob status — or the female attention. "Robert doesn’t understand why everyone is going so crazy over him," continues the insider.

“He’s embarrassed by the way girls throw themselves at him. The girls here are stalking him. He stayed in two different hotels over the course of four days just to try to escape the fans who were following him. He's afraid that if he gives a hand, they’ll take the whole arm. He’s being advised by security not to encourage the crowd, so he doesn’t even look up anymore."

True to form, the gorgeous star kept his head down early last week at the Crestwood Train Station in Yonkers, where “Remember Me” was filming. During one break, he headed to local bakery Martine’s, where an eyewitness observed, “He was completely silent in public, but when he got back to the crew, he was saying how glad he was to be away from prying eyes in Manhattan.”

This isn’t the first time that Pattinson’s public paranoia has reared its head. He told an Australian magazine back in June that he started crying while shooting “New Moon” in Italy because, “I [cry] when people are screaming at me.”

At least he can find solace from his homesickness with a few nights out on the town — we’ve spotted Pattinson drinking at local spots like Black and White, the Bowery Hotel, Freemans and Webster Hall.

  1. :-(. I am not at all surprised he feels this way...it is totally understandable. I don't know how he can go through what he has in NY and not have it affect him, how can he possibly jump right into filming Eclipse? I hope it is a better experience for him...what with it being a closed set and all.

  2. Well IF the media is really reporting accurately for a change, and he is totally overwhelmed by N.Y and the crazy fans, then yeah I could see why he would want to be home in his beloved England. I really wished these fans would get a life. They give other fans in the states a bad name with their behavior. What is ironic is, do they even know or care for that matter what this is doing to Rob? Who if any one of them were pinned down to ask about their feelings for him, they would most likely say they LOVE HIM, or something to that effect. Yeah.. love...ummm right... If they really cared about him they wouldn't be grabbing his body or his clothes and scaring him half to death! Leave Rob alone all you crazy girls out there who have no lives!

  3. Poor Rob, I think he needs to get back to the UK away from all the hysteria. I just think it's insane!

What do these girls want from him? To watch him have a public meltdown? Even then I don't think that would stop them.

  4. Wow! Now you probably know how the Beatles felt Rob! I'm so sorry for this histeria. I think it stems from such unrest in the real world. Financial, love, self image, depression, that when they see a character like Edward Cullen people get locked into that world as an escape from the realities. Rob, I have been in front and behind the scenes, (behind is better) and I can see if you dont keep friends/mates & family that love you around as much as possible right now, "The Hollywood Life" may swallow you whole. It's carniverous with it's new young stars. I dont want to read about your accidental (in my opinion no such thing) overdose in the paper. I look forward to watching your long brilliant career unfold. Your incredible smile is the pride of your parents im sure of it. To all the crazed stalking fans; BACK OFF this poor boy for Gods sakes!

  8. it's so hard being in his business. i can't help but feel torn at times. on one hand actors in hollywood ask for this when they enter the profession. but for someone as new and genuine as mr. pattinson here, i can see the torment and hysteria the attention can cause. no one LOVES to be a media whore. at the rate he is going from project to project, he may burn out soon. i think a break lasting more than 3 days is incredibly needed. maybe he needs to spend a little down time at home, get out of the spot light, re-collect himself. he's very talented and it would be a shame to have him stray away b/c of they media frenzy.
