Parts Per Billion is a no go

Exclusive: 'Twilight' Star Robert Pattinson Drops Out Of 'Parts Per Billion'
Rep cites 'New Moon' schedule as the reason for actor's departure.

In the massive wake surrounding the record-breaking box office of "Twilight," Robert Pattinson mania has swept through Hollywood and made the charismatic Brit one of its most in-demand young actors. His busy schedule has put him on magazine covers and had him touring all over the world and making public appearances to rioting crowds.

Now, however, Twilighters have one less place where they'll be able to find their beloved RPattz: on the set of his next movie.

MTV News has exclusively confirmed that Pattinson is dropping out of "Parts per Billion," the eagerly anticipated indie film he was scheduled to begin shooting in Los Angeles this month. Although co-star/producer Rosario Dawson had expressed enthusiasm about working with the "Twilight" heartthrob as recently as December 16, a representative for Pattinson confirmed that he is no longer involved.

"What you heard is correct," the 22-year-old star's agent, Nicholas Frenkel, replied to an MTV News query Tuesday (January 6). "Unfortunately, the prep time and production schedule on 'New Moon' haven't left enough time for Robert to work on 'Parts per Billion' in the first quarter of this year."

The news is sure to sadden Pattinson's army of fans, who have been tracking the development of the film for months and were eagerly anticipating his reportedly steamy love scenes to be shot with actress Olivia Thirlby ("Juno"). The ensemble film, which tells the story of several different lives being impacted by the same catastrophic event, will now need to quickly recast the role if shooting is to remain on schedule.

Pattinson's fans might also be interested that his rep cited the pending "New Moon" shoot as the actor's reason for having to leave "Billion." With that much-anticipated "Twilight" sequel not scheduled to get cameras rolling until March, it now seems highly unlikely that RPattz will be able to squeeze in a movie before he returns to the role of Edward Cullen — leaving his fans with only "Little Ashes" and "How to Be" in the can. Pattinson shot both films before his "Twilight" breakthrough.

  1. Awww...that is sad. One of my biggest fears for him is that he will only be known as Edward Cullen.
But, it looks like Twilight will be a huge part of his life for at least a couple more years. (Assuming they don't make Breaking Dawn. Which, unless we make HUGE strides in the way special effects between now and then, I hope they don't.)
Isn't Parts Per Billion supposed to have Dennis Hopper or somebody really important in it?

  2. Hi! Love reading your blog. It does kind of suck that he's tied up in the Twilight series, only because he could be leveraging his newfound fame to get really great movie parts and broaden his acting range. I hope that he'll finish New Moon / Eclipse and have some time to focus on developing his career!

  3. awe, i feel bad for him - especially because he is always saying how he doesn't want to get pigeonholed with the character of Edward Cullen. It sucks that he has to give up Parts Per Billion. I was looking forward to seeing that too :(

  4. Well that sucks! I'm sure he would of loved to have worked with Dennis Hopper.

  6. hm...not too surprised with New Moon slated to begin in March, that would leave 2 mos. for 2 films. other actors have filmed multiple movies at the same time, but if Weitz is wanting to do New Moon and Eclipse back to back LOR style Rob would be overwhelmed. smart move to devote more time to a movie with a larger crowd. but sad he wont be able to shed the twilight coat for another year...however, that means twilight will be over that much sooner and he can move on to bigger and better projects! and might make that deadline he set for himself (own production company by age 26, in the hopes of re-inventing the hollywood stigma?) much more of a reality than a dream

  7. As an actor Rob will come to expect these things, even if he wasn't in a huge franchise. Actors turn down and drop out of roles left and right to do other things. Sometimes it's a dissapointment, but that's the industry.

  9. While seeing Rob in a nice steamy love scene in 'parts per billion' would have been amazing (kinda like meeting Jesus or something, is that bad to say?) I'm glad he's committed to Edward and New Moon for now...

But i do want to see rob in all some great indie-film.. and I think he will do them. I also want to see him half-dressed, preferably climbing through my window to try "just one thing" oh wait- sorry.. i kinda just went into fantasy-land there..

anyway... good for Rob to be committed.. sad for us to not see him in that movie, and here's to many more years of Rob in great films (and our impending marriage.. which WILL happen.. even though I'm already married.. ) http://letterstorob.com

  10. He had spoken about Billion script with such enthusiasm saying it is the most poetic one he had ever read, he could not even put it to words. This is so sad!
Twilight ends up being a mixed blessing...
It would be great if Billion could be delayed so Rob would be able to be part of it.
